Kasaysayan Ko Book 1
Noong Unang Panahon
Kasaysayan Ko is a comprehensive guide that weaves together Philippine history, geography, and citizenship for Grades 1-3, helping children connect with their heritage and understand their role in the world through engaging stories and activities.

The heart of BUHAY ARALAN is THIS. In my personal experience, I have only recently learned to appreciate and proactively consider my role in the world as a Filipino since children of my own. I wish I cared more then, perhaps I could have done more for my kids today. Recent events and the confusing debates about truth, right and wrong have muddled values that I feel are necessary for humans to thrive in society. History is taught late in traditional school or loosely tackled in a sweeping breadth of "during the Spaniards colonization... when the Americans came... during the Japanese occupation... during Martial Law..." What was life like for Filipinos in between? Kasaysayan Ko is a work in progress merging many stories about the Philippine's History and enriching it with ways to connect with our heritage, our natural resources and values. It's a pretty long story so watch out for several releases! Your purchase comes with 3 files: A 150-page Parent Guide and 2 versions of a 243-page Student Notebook (one in Cursive copywork font and one in Manuscript print font for younger learners) and the timeline.

Each of the 28-weeks in every version will reference a historical account from our history spines.

Big Picture Idea of this time in history will be provided in case you're using a different Philippine history book so you can manually match it with a relevant book/ chapter in your timeline of choice. Each week will also encourage Philippine map explorations. The goal of weaving ideas presented in the guide through links and living book suggestions as early as in Grades 1-3 is to present a child's lineage, roots and ancestry by anchoring written accounts to open up questions about who, what, where, when, how and more importantly, the whys of people throughout OUR history. My hope is that this study guide is able to tie in all the beautiful stories -- all of them, sad, mad, bad, relationships, dreams, intentions and longing -- passed down through generations of notable and ordinary Filipinos to allow for conversations about the past.

Perhaps someday, this will pave a way for a future where Filipino children are able to learn from the mistakes WE made as a people and move forward into all parts of the world with pride in who they are as they contribute to making the world a better, kinder place to live in.
